Dean. A simple TIG torch is only $80 and with a mig set-up, you've already
got the flow meter and hose. A couple of tungsten electrodes and you've got a
very universal tool. I like TIG because it will weld pretty much anything.
Steel, stainless, brass, bronze, copper, pot metal, aluminum, silver,
gold, you name it. I use it for TONS of stuff. Granted, it's pretty slow,
but with my eyesight, slow is a good thing. Remember me telling you about
"carbon arc " brazing ? very much like TIG work except no gas. Works pretty good
on thin sheet metal. Ask the local welding store. Carbon rods are just pennies
each, and a couple of silicon/bronze rods at $1.50 each........ cheap way
to practice tig techniques, and useful in itself for lots of repair jobs. Frank
