Hi Brent,
Yes the machining was a bit better than the expected
$785.00 quote.
The cone was stress relieved prior to machining and I am
quite sure there is no distortion on the window seat itselt. There was a bit of
runout at the outside edge however. I opted to center that as best as I could
and tack it all around then finish weld inside. The outside was then ground back
to the inital weld to give a full penetration weld. I am quite certain that if I
forced the runout into place I would introduce bending forces and stress to
possibly distort the seat area.
Best Regards,
Jim K

Transition Cone
Greetings
Jim, That looks really nice and
solid. The primer paint coat makes a big difference in how it looks.
You should be able to get a better feel for it now. Do you think the
transition come went on without any distortion as planned? Did the
machining cost come out better then
expected?

Hi all,
I've just uploaded a picture to the projects siteof the
attached transition cone and the ballast tanks installed in their
racks.
Not quite as cool as Frank's nose, but I like
it!!
Best regards,
Jim K

Hey ya Frank, That's a mean barnical on your
bow. I vote for dark chrome with green edge lighting. ;)' What
color did you decide for the sub? It reminds me of some stylin
metal bow cones on some wooden boats I saw not too long
ago.

shape of the wave piercing bow on my Batic THUWG sub design might be a
touch to aggressive until I saw your spike. I'm looking forward to
checking it out in person. http://www.flickr.com/photos/12242379@N05/3203047442/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/12242379@N05/3203047356/

Hi guys. I've been working on this for a couple days now. It's almost
ready. Just needs a little polishing and then will get plated either in
chrome or maybe brass. As I've said before, I expect to crash into stuff at
some point, so I needed a front bumper. Get the point? Frank D.
