Brent,
When Jay
responded to your suggestion to another member, that he could install
speed brakes, Jay gave plenty of good reason to back up his statement that
speed brakes were a bad idea. Sometime later, Ray Keefer provided quotes
from a book about the history of the Albacore that backed up Jay's
statements. So ample evidence has been provided that clearly demonstrates
speed brakes submarines can be dangerous. Whether they would work on
small subs, I have no clue. One of the things we talked about at the
convention this year, is that people who push innovative designs and ideas need
to first, expect that their idea is going to be scrutinized, and second,
that the person proposing such innovation has the burden to prove what they are
proposing actually works. You could be right about stopping flaps, you
could be wrong about them. When you make statements including "this could
work", or "this should work" without anything to backup your claims except your
own opinion, expect them to be challenged. In other words
"just saying something is a good idea with no reason and/or very
limited reason doesn't make for good open flowing
discussion".
Being a
"possibility thinker" is great, but when their thoughts are not
practical the "possibility thinker" is more commonly known as a "pipe
dreamer".
