Hi Hugh, and thanks for the encouragement. It's a labor of love. I heard
that some guys use a type of vegetable oil. There was also some talk of
di-electric oil. Hopefully one of the guys using this method will join in this
thread. As I understand it, the motor housing is filled with oil so it's exposed
to the arcing at the commutator. Brushless motors don't have a problem. I think
the moisture with the air compensation method is from condensation, rather than
leaks. Not sure how much moisture is there, but it should be possible to
minimize condensation by using VERY dry air, or maybe an inert gas like argon.
I'm still investigating what method to use, but leaning toward air. Frank
