Hi Emile. The small tube/valve in the hatch is to release the compressed
bubble after the sub is flooded. Although the pressure in/out is equal, the
bubble will still be a problem when the hatch dogs are released.( I think) and I
thought a small tube would be useful. Mostly because the machinist who cut my
''O'' ring groove needed a hole in the dome to bolt it down while planing the
ring flat. I'd like to put a small video camera on top, so if the tube isn't
needed, I could use the hole for that. The camera would be like a periscope and
when swiveled around, will let me see behind me. Frank
