Hi Carsten/Jim.
I am intending to sandblast the entire hull
before final painting. But as this may be some time away, I was just
going to paint the installed viewports only at this stage, to stop them rusting
as i have only just made them. Is this pointless if i will need to blast
them anyway?
Shall i just leave them and blast them eventually
with the rest of the hull?
I thought that they would be ok if painted now, but
from your messages, it sounds like the ports need to be blasted as well for
paint adhesion?
Im sorry if i sound like an amateur but i am just
working this all out as i go along and there is nobody else to ask.
Many thanks
James

Hatch Viewport Arrangement
That is what I will do..
Washing with soapwater than
Sandblasting SAE 2,5 than Relius Oldopox Haftgrund ZHG, 321-0071 grau 30 um (Zink
primer grey) Relius Oldopox ARC,
325-9105 schwarz 125 um (black) Relius Oldopox ARC 325-3109 rotbraun 125 um (redbrown) Relius Oldopox Sealer, 354-3170 grau 50 um
(grey) Relius Topcoat (deck) or antifouling (hull) in
blue
Washing is most important
- otherwhise the sandblast push the
smoke and dirt into the steel..
With this proffesional coat it will last many years without work.
regards Carsten

Usually Zinc has a long recoat period, but if this period is exceeded you may
have to resandblast. >
