Im glad everyone prefers the front bubble idea best.  Thats kind of what i wanted to hear :)
 
Brent, thats not a bad idea of the alternative locking mechanism.  I hadn't thought of that method.  I will give it some thought.
 
Anyway, i think the bottom hatch is ditched, so i can weld in those last 3 reinforcing rings now!

Hi James. If I was making a choice, I too would go with the front bubble. I have a clearer picture of the design in my head now and you should be able to maintain a bubble in the tower with the front bubble window open.
The nice thing is the extra view you'll have through that window. Jim K. has a 39 inch bubble on the front of his, and that should make for great viewing. The bubble itself is $4K and if you add hinges, ''o'' rings etc, it will get pretty expensive, but you gain a lot even if you never open it. Sounds like a good idea to me. Frank D.
