Brent. The smaller scuba bottles like used with a two bottle setup are pretty reasonable, and take up little space. Plus, if you need the extra air to blow ballast, the fittings all match. A full size (80) bottle is kind of bulky, and holds more air than you'll need for an exit. It would be nice to have a large bottle or two on the outside for ballast blow, but of course without extensive fairings, would increase drag. I plan on using scuba bottles inside the sub but may consider adding two more outside. I have the room near the back next to the rear ballast tank.
I have a modular design which makes modification of the rear section easy. I may even add a diesel motor/generator/battery module to the sub later.
If you look at the frappr sketch for the rear structure, replacing the whole back end with some other type of module will be very do-able. Frank D.
