RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] teathers

Dean,

I would think that making the tether releasable from the sub, in case the line got entangled with some thing nasty, would be a good safety feature. The part I find the trickiest with doing that is having a non corroding releasable connection for the radio(s).  I've been thinking about that sort of thing lately with regards to having releasable battery pods, as back-up to the primary drop weights, like I've seen on a few subs in the Busby book. Having good releasable electrical connections is one of the biggest challenges I see in doing that.
Regards,
Brent

Questions on a tether line.

I am planning on pulling a float, with GPS and radio antennas.

For sure the line is going to be a problem. My way of thinking
for a max depth of 350 ffw about a 500' tether will be needed.

Has anyone pulled this long of a float.

I am maybe thinking a ROV tether might be available to
accomplish this.

Any Thoughts
