RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Hatch fabrication dilemma

Did you make a jig or cramps of any sort to hold the ring and dish together
for welding?

I was thinking of making a jig that would hold the ring down tight and cramp

the dish on top to keep it all rigid to minimise distortion. But im not
sure if thats needed. What do you think?

>>James,

It will minimise distortion when you can hold the ring down of a ridgid,
flat plate. It will only be more work to built a jig.

Other point ist to determine the right sequence. After cooling down the weld
shrinks, in case of SS very much. So you can choose what first and what last
to weld.
In some cases preheat can improve quality.
