I dont suppose you have any pictures of the hatch dilemma you could share 
with us?  Im particually interested in seeing how you get on as im going to 
be doing my own hatch very soon.

Did you make a jig or cramps of any sort to hold the ring and dish together 
for welding?

I was thinking of making a jig that would hold the ring down tight and cramp 
the dish on top to keep it all rigid to minimise distortion.  But im not 
sure if thats needed.  What do you think?

Anyway, good luck.  i hope it doesnt take to much fixing.
