Brent,
What's that stuff on the ground? We Floridians don't ordinarily see sand quite that white!!!
And as for the bevel on the conning tower reinforcement, you have the answer right there. That's probably a factory boat, and Captain Kittredge has the bevel. My guess is that it's an engineering niceity, and might be dispensed with. Maybe Dr. Nuyton could speak to that.

Kyle, That's what I figured, thanks for verifying it for me. With regards to the K-250 built with side, downward looking view ports, by Mr. Kittredge. I might be working on that very sub. Regardless of that, it still has that type of view ports. http://www.frappr.com/?a=viewphoto&id=2384531&pid=3969634

Brent you can go for a ride but only if you promise not to test anything.
Because of Snell's Law a forward looking view port would be nice. It is difficult to see the top of the bow. But I am leaning toward a forward and down tilted view port on both sides of the tower. Capt. Kittredge describes, in his book, a similar design that he built for an underwater photographer.
