Mag coupling itself has some useful properties.... it's when you put a
relatively thick, and most particularly a conductive wall in the magnetic field
that you have have problems.

mag couplings were used in industry for many years the two that come
to mind are the drive clutch on fork trucks in the 60s also many stamping
presses used Eddy current drives (large AC motor with a DC mag clutch) many of
the stamping press Eddy current drives have Been replaced with Variable Freq
Drives or Brussels DC both the VFD and BLDC have better speed control and are
alott more efficient BLDC with PWM will give the best torque and
efficiency
