James, Recently the ABS has accepted FEA of a hull design with
subsequent instrumenting the finished hull with stress gages to verify that the
stresses during a test dive to less than test depth correlate with the FEA. If
they match, the hull is certified to test depth saving a considerable amount of
money. I often improper exchange the use of testing and inspection due to an
old relation with subs…an X-ray inspection was considered a test as it was
