Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Fish eyes

Thanks Micheal, Let me know when you find more info :) I'll try to find a half sphere and do the test. I think it would be usefull for other sub too. To have a better all around view.

P.S. what does DOWB stand for? What is it? My wild guess is: Dual Organic Welding Brackets... Or not.... (just kidding. I know I'm taking chances right now but what can I say? I'm that type of guy)

I was wandering since my sub have many blind spots (in fact, I can only see strait forward and up) that if I put half sphere of acrylic as window, would I see 180 deg. around? Then eliminating blind spots on the side? I'm aware that if that does work distortion would be... interesting at best. But I could see if I am close to an object or to see where is that scuba diver?

Anybody tried that before?

DOWB had fiber-optic fisheyes. Two of them, as I recall: one above one and at the keel. At some point early in the game, one of the eyes was moved to a stalk at the bow. Apparently, it's kinda hard to use at first. It's worth noting that DOWB was fairly quickly sold and retired. I have around here somewhere the pilots' manual for DOWB when it was in Santa Barbara. When I find the package, I'll tell you what's there.
