If you have the chance visit an aquarium.  They may have a tank with a
half-sphere.  You'll be able to poke your head into the window for a first
hand look at the distortion.

It's not all that bad.  The view is fantastic, you don't get any really
funny distortions unless the window itself is uneven.  You may consider a
tear drop shape, too.  You can still insert your head into the window to
look behind you but the window is much more hydrodynamic.

If the window will stick out on your sub, consider having it made in
polycarbonate (Lexan) instead.  Acrylic (Plexiglas) is extremely well
studied for pressure applications, but, Lexan is MUCH more collision
resistant and is great for an ambient boat.

BTW, you will not get the same fish-eye perspective as a camera lens.
Different principles.  Hope this helps.
