Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] acrylic viewport thickness

Hi, Rick!
Just one run to test depth (unmanned)is required - then a manned
function test ( demonstarete all functions - thrusters, life-support,
etc.,) -then a shallow test to demonstrate drop weight, hull separation (
in our DW case). These tests are done in our pressure chamber, except the
shallow function test. If these are done at sea, then the manned pressure
test and the shallow function test can be combined. On a new design, we do
hull strain-gauging also. All of these tests are witnessed by Lloyds,ABS.or
DNV surveyor and are the final paperwork for certification. The prelim
starts with engineered hull design, thrrough materials stamping, charpy
test, weld Xrays, roundness gauging, and on and on - pain in the ass - but
neccessary for commercial build.
