Here are some of the variables: diameter vs length, wall thickness, type of
steel.
You can be sure its working pressure is at least 250 psi,with a fat safety
margin. That would give you 125 feet if it was as easy to blow up a tank as to
crush it. It's not. So there's a factor there.
My 1,000 gallon tank (4' diameter,10' long) has 1/2" cylinder and 5/8"
caps. It's been tested (unmanned) to 300 feet.

Ray Im looking to bu[ld a psub for shallow diving. Do you or anyone
know how deep a 500 gl. propane tank could take if it didnt have stiffners
placed in it. Thank you for your help.
