Hey guys,
Most of these "fast attack"
submarines are pretty much marketing stints aimed at getting publicity to
entice rich people to invest in their distorted dream. Many of them have sophisticated
websites with high-tech graphics and grandiose promises of luxury and
high-performance underwater.
Unfortunately nowhere do they mention that
they are using the customer as the guinea pig to finance their ill-conceived (driven
by greed) dreams. Their marketing efforts are geared to those with "business
acumen" (read big bucks) and appeal to their over-inflated and self -nourishing
ego and their desire to have the latest and greatest toys to flaunt in front of
their equally rich and ego-inflamed friends.
For many years I have dreamed to establish
a World-wide Society which I named "ISSPI" or The International
Society of Submersible Pilot Instructors. While not finished with the format
and scope of this organization, the general scope will be to provide a
universal guideline for the certification and instruction of submersible pilots
(private & commercial) and to promote safety through education,
certification and improved submersible design. Unlike those who promise caviar
dreams and ultra-luxury for the ultra-rich, my aim is to appeal to the masses;
to the average Joe Diver who loves the ocean and who will be able to afford his
dream of piloting a private or commercial submersible.
I invite all here to openly give your
input, and possibly get something going which could evolve into a great
industry. This is a vision which I have had for many years, and believe that
the time is getting closer for it to become a reality.
