Re: Reply to: [PSUBS-MAILIST] ABS - 3/17.1.1 - Normal Ballast System

I will never suggest that any topic is not worth discussing. Discussion on
ballasting is always beneficial. I have stated that I have researched them
and I have found that I do not need or want a VBT in my sub. There are very
successful subs, as Vance pointed out, that do not have a VBT. Now someone
here who is not sure about this (ballast~buoyancy) aspect in there sub yet,
can see that there are options, different roads taken, and it is up to that
person to determine in there head what they will do and why. Submersibles
are like cars. Everyone has a personal preference when it comes to buying a
car. All the cars on the market look different but they all are successful
(somewhat). I bought a truck because.... or I bought a car because.... It
has these options because.... I like this manufacturer because.... We all
have different vehicles parked in the garage and we will all have different
subs. The point here is to think for yourself, develop your own reasons and
even more importantly, give thought to methods used in the past and current
methods and don't be bullied by me or by someone who says you will die if
you don't do it there way! Let it die on paper or experimentally then you
will have exhausted that avenue. When someone starts off with talking about
safety first, in my opinion this is a bunch of manipulative bunk. Of course
safety is important, God gave us five senses and we know how not to abuse
them. More accidents will and have happened during the fabrication or
maintenance of subs then while diving a sub, and hopefully all of our
mistakes happen while we are designing our subs and they are corrected
there!
