Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Leak Alarm

Dan, I presume that if the isn't enough water to complete a connection then there isn't a leak. Condensation, maybe.

Stan, I'm not familiar with a DIY battery. Please explain more.

I tried several circuits from the just plain lights to transistors to
operational amplifiers.

The water completing the circuit with a light bulb wasn't sensitive enough,
neither was the two transistor circuit I tried. The Op amp was so
sensitive, all I had to do was breathe on it and it would go off. I tried
to tame it down but it was still to sensitive to be sure I wouldn't get
false warnings.

The pods I'm sensing are battery pods and motor pods. Not a situation for a
sump pump. Any alarms mean I have to disassemble the pod to inspect them.

Thanks,
Dan H.

what about the DIY zinc air battery? place it low, when no air - water
instead - no current. flips light on. or just use light flashing on
capacitor rest of time - when it stops, turn on sump pump.

Just a thought, but would a strategically placed spark plug work in line
with an indicator bulb? Open circuit (no light) indicates no water in

the

gap, closed circuit (red light?) means water is present. You can get

them

with a platinum electrode, easy to replace, and inexpensive...
