Thanks for the posting.  They look like neat little packages and would probably fit in my pods.  Motor pods are especially cramped. 
 
I'm sure it would be better then what I have now but my detector is pretty much "one time use."  If I have any water leak in at all, I'll be disassembling the pod to correct the problem and can clean and inspect the detector I have now.  What I have will detect five pods for a total of a forty dollar investment.

There are laser sensors that could help. When water leaks in, it
disrupts the laser beam and sets off an alarm. Water can be crystal
clear, and it'll still change the laser beam (diffraction).
