Hi,

Perhaps like the oar powered sub that operated in the Thames river 200 or 300 years ago. The Dredge or something. Someone did a special about recreating one but only gave the team 3 weeks to get it built.
They were only able to make a dive or two. By the time they got it right time was up. Off to a museum.
