Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] OT: Copyrights

Hi Jorge,

I'm not very knowledgable on international copyright law, but Brazil
has (1999) copyright laws which seem close to the US copyright law.
And as far as I can tell, just because the book was printed in the US,
wouldn't not stop it have the same benifits as any Brazilian publication.

It would be illegal copy and distrubute this book, "All rights reserved",
with a small section saying don't copy this book (in any form) with out
permission from the publisher.

They are several other reason I think that why this book should not be copied.

(1) Dr Jerry D. Stachiw spent 29 years working on the content of this book,
this is his living.

(2) This was a really hard book to get, I had no luck searching for a copy
for two years. Then as if by magic, this very useful book got reprinted.
If the first thing we do is pirate (a bad, but accurate word) the new print
of the book, I'm worried that we will not see reprints of other great books
which are currently rare.

Of course, before giving up you should ask permission from the "Best Publishing
Company" divebooks@bestpub.com.

Ian.
