What do you think of face up vs face down recumbent?
I scuba dive, 'n rookie error is swimming on a diagonal, presently very large and turbulent profile.
Playing with a 45 degree mask-based mirror. So look down - but see forward. Will get back to you on that. 
What materials for seat? My face-down simply clunky mechanical system 'torpedo tube' sub might look like the t-slit on a massage bed. Maybe adjust to hold up head on angle- or do the above 'mirror trick'. 
With funky electronics, face-up recumbent likely way better. But I don't plan to have ANY electronics. Not like I'm building a tourist sub. Though would be comparable with Carsten's micro-sub that way.
Occured to me I could use a mirror array to use face-up with 'bird's eye view'. Pretty cozy in a 25.6" max. OD hull tube though...
