No.  Being a lazy sort, and having a Lowe's nearby, I'm going to
try three layers of 3/4 inch plywood.

Men.  Two guys were in there, cranking away (with their
hands, it seems) on modified bicycle-like chain drives
to turn the wheels.

I'd like to have the thing "looking" right, so the  rear 
end is not the right device: it would be obviously
an addition.   But I like the idea.

Sounds like what Lake did for Argonaut I/II.

Along this line, it is my opinion that Argonaut Junior's
drive wheels were at the rear.
