RE: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Re:SUBSAFE

Ray,

I think this would be a very useful resource to all members on the PSUBS
scene. It would serve as a FAQ section to new people and a good source of
reference to those further into their own projects.

In addition to the usefulness of the information contained in such a volume
it would help bolster the case of all of us who are keen to protect the
"status quo" of current legislation. As many people have already stated,
everyone is keen to conform to basic safety guidelines predominantly for
selfish reasons, i.e. we don't want to kill ourselves! But also to show the
powers that be we are responsible and (although mainly self taught)
professional in our approach to the design and manufacture of our craft.

One point I would like to add to the conversation: Would it be possible to
incorporate some more facts and figures from other countries to make it a
more international resource. I am a UK "suber" and often find loads of
information on the legal aspects of construction and operation of sub
systems which is geared almost exclusively to the USA. I am not sure if
there is more info out their which would be more relevant to my situation
but if others have access to this it would be good to include.

I hope that if government bodies do occasional drop in on this group to see
what it is all about they will realise that we are proactive and trying to
become "self regulating ".

Harry

Ok,

So how to proceed? Do we need to make and official PSUBS spec? Like
along the lines of the ABS book we all love?

I see Doc's, Pat's and Doug's comments combined into the Introduction.
But where to go from there? With our limited resources can we really
put the research needed to produce an accurate book? Still I am game,
after the convention, to take a shot. Below are suggested chapters.
The content of which can be filled out as we proceed.

Any other chapters you would like? Better Arrangement?
