If the threads that you are talking about are in the motor housing for motorguid or minakota they are 1-20 straight threads, both minakota and motorguide use red locktight to seal the treads. To remove the motor support shaft from the motor use some heat to free up the locktight, but use caution ...don't get the motor to hot that you burn up the inside of the motor. On the motors that I supply, I machine out the straight threads to a 3/4 Female National Pipe Thread, so that it will fit a comercialy available compresion fitting. I'm using a standard compression fitting for cable thru hull connectors but I'm having the darndest time trying to match the threads with a tap. I assumed they were NPT (i.e. pipe thread) but was told that they have their own thread type. Can anyone help me on a source for taps to thread a hole for these threads?
