[PSUBS-MAILIST] CSSX Update 10/2000

Hi Submadmans, just a update,

Stern Side-rudder finished, awaiting air pressure test for the three
oil-chambers.
Stern Deep-rudder also finished awaiting also air-pressure test for the
two
oil-chambers. All three rudder skegs pre-asambled.
Air-pressure-test-device built today to test the weldings for water- and
pressure
tightness.

Look at www.history.navy.mil/photos/images/h97000/h97221k.jpg
for (profil typ-) rudder under pressure without oil inside..

I purchase a new profesional MIG/MAG welding-machine
(see at WWW.esab.com or .de than products, look for LKB 265 )
for Steel/stainless steel and aluminium.
The time to weld something goes down to less the half of the time with
the
old Mig welder or the old stick welder and the quality is much better.

The rope holder /stanchions for the guard rail and the bollard down
under
the stanchions made from Stainless steel are also final welded. At the
moment I work on the Main-ballasttank - entrance hatches down under
the bollards, also made from stainless steel and on some hand rail
from stainless steel for the top of the sail.

But most work at the moment is to make a new order list for the next 2,5
tons
of pre-fabricate steel parts like ring-frames, tank entrances for the
regulator, the plating for the regulator tanks etc. If you work this way
there is no space for mistakes - everything on your cut-out DXF files
to the metal-shops must have the right size on the right place
- or you get expensive scrap steel..

I have now a overview how much - for example - grinding plates I need
the
next 3 years. So I will order them all together (some hundreds) from
the factory for a price less than half as the next shop in the town..
Its expensive at the this moment but will save money over the years
and much time himself - not nessesary to drive to the shop every week
or to stop work because out of oneway-tools.

best regards, Carsten
