Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Re: Electric - Eel - was The next step in drug traffic cut short.Subs!
Hi David, I was born and living up today in the west..
All I can remember about the Electric-Eel is that the "Stasi" give an
order
to an east German Shipbuilding university office to make some
calculation
and expert evidence about the design for the proceedings to bring the
man in jail. But the expert told in the evidence that this sub is from
poor
design and can not use for a flee, no stability during diving, no range
etc.
And I was happy not to build the flee-submarine because
of it "no money - no right material - poor design" also.
But I miss the adventure on the east/west lake - but I have learned
that the Stasi killed this kind of West- people by car-accidents
before they can do there job..

I'm the one who took the crude pictures of it (with a 110 Instamatic, no less) -- and I thought I had taken a picture of the little plaque with the story on it... but I haven't been able to find it. Maybe you could convey whatever you know and Ray to tack it to the pictures on the website. Any idea where I might find more about it? When I saw it, it was part of a touring exhibit of ways people escaped from Soviet-occupied eastern-European countries. Have you seen it back home?
