While I have no doubt that it is a 'modern design', what struck me was how
close it's dimensions are to the ww1 german UB1 minelayer(6 vertical tubes in
the forward hull, each with 2 mines). This would probably be a way to transfer
the cargo as well. The sub waits underwater at a prearranged spot, and when it
gets a hydrophone signal, it releases a 'mine'. This way the transfer can be
interupted at any time without losing either the cargo or the sub.
