I did some research on the DF1 and think that it was some kind of wound 
filament or something, but I don't think it was a woven mat.
Although one thing to think about is that the DF1 can go down about 3000ft 
and cost $1,000,000, quite out of my range (although it might be feasible if 
scaled down to, say, 250ft?).
