I've looked at Carbon Fiber and am quite aware of the cost, but I think it 
would be more economical to use a fiberglass-like material for certain shapes 
that would probably cost more than carbon fiber if done to poper specs by a 
local company in steel (assuming they could actually do the shapes in the 
first place).
 Now if only someone would invent a cheaper way to make carbon fiber..........
