Maybe.  But since some fluid will eat the seals if used in the wrong type
transmission, I'd want to make real sure about what I put into my motor
case.

Actually, checking the archives, one might find quite a bit of discussion
regarding motor seals.  Worth a look.

And yes, perhaps we are an amusing bunch.  We have a lot of people here who
are at all different levels of involvement with submarines: from guys who
are on day-one of becoming interested, to the top pros in the field who have
made this their life.  What can I say?  We all like to knock ideas around
and see where they lead.

About seals: this is an item of interest to many experienced and neophyte
sub builder.  The problem is: many of us use Minn Kota motors, and are faced
with making them watertight at greater-than-design depths.  We've talked
about improved seals, pressure compensation, and fluid-filled housings as
possible remedies to depth-leakage problems.

If you can come up with any other suggestions about how we might beat this
gremlin, I for one would certainly be glad to hear them.
