Instead, it should read,
" ....welds should be no less than 1/2...."
An example for a 36" O.D. hull would be:
1/2 of 36" = 18"
18" / 6" = 3"
so, 6 equally spaced 3"X1/4" beads are sufficient if outside rings are used.

The major certifying agencies for subs all require continuous welding, far as
I know.
