That's the problem I foresee with most of the these boats.   I know that
boat ramps in Virginia are quite shallow for a long way.   One place I
used
to launch my sailboat was so shallow that I could walk the boat into the 
center of the basin, at no time in water up to my chest.

Your solution is great, but most of us don't have your skills.   It would
be easier for me, for example, to fabricate a pair of floats.
