Have you looked into one of those trailers they transport propane tanks on? The kind with no solid axle so the middle is wide open, with a wishbone-shaped structure overhead supporting a winch which lifts the tank, and then removable cross supports underneath. I suppose one of those might cost a sizable percentage of the sub's expense, but it looks like such a spiffy arrangement. They hook a chain to the loops on top the tank, but I'm imagining some kind of sling which would cradle the boat underneath.
