That would be a function of whether the volume of air compares to the compressibility on the reservoir. If you're using a tube for flex, the bubbles should be less than the volume the hose can compress. If you rock the motor back and forth and turn the shaft, you should be able to eliminate all air with about 10-15 small additions of oil. Try using a syringe.
