    I painted mine light gray.  I don't think you should use black.  You
need some light inside the sub and the black will require more inside
lighting to see anything.  I have not had a problem with reflections etc.
I like the light gray color.  I have the ability to turn on 4 florescent
2-foot tubes as well as recessed lighting for low light levels.
