Re: How fast is a knot, anyway

Now we are getting closer to an accurate answer, or are we?
My sons TI-86 scientific calculator says this:

1 nautical mile is 6076.11548556 feet.
1 knot is 1.15077944802 mph
1 mph is 0.868976241901 knot
Any disagreement with this should be directed to TI with a fork stuck in it.

John B., about the 5 ft difference, do you think the earth grew that much since
they programed the TI-86, Or was some ones tape measure out of calibration. Maybe
one is a atlantic knot and the other is a spacific knot.
