I must confess I haven't paid attention the dozen or so times I've read
somebody volunteer some pictures, and somebody else tell them who to e-mail
them to. I found the photos I took of a scary-looking boxy fiberglass
[s u b]marine I saw several years ago. It was part of an exhibit about
various ways people escaped from the Soviet Bloc countries, and had
allegedly been built by an East German engineer who used it to sneak across
some bit of the North Sea. (I say "allegedly," because how sneaky are
bright red and yellow stripes, and "Electric Eel" painted in big letters
down the side?) Anyway, I've dug out the scanner and I'm prepared to scan
the better photos a little later. Who do I send them to, to put them on the
website? Do you *want* them on the website?
While I'm at it, is there anybody who hasn't seen, and wants to see, any of
the old Popular Science/Mechanics articles about various little commercial
and do-it-yourself subs? I found those too. I have the 'Amazing
Glass-Bubble Underwater Pleasure Craft,' (the one that's a complete sphere
with no thru-hulls at all) and the Markham ambient 2-man dealy where the
2nd man has to wear a SCUBA getup (and carry a speargun, I guess)... a a
few other minor ones.
