Re: How catastrophic is catastrophic?



	About concrete hulls, I seem to recall that permeability (as the
material is somewhat porous from a geological point of view) was also a
limiting factor, and that the concrete hull could fill with water through
pores before crushing. Because pore pressue can equal hydrostatic pressue,
this could be a rather important consideration. Treatments are often
applied to concrete to reduce porosity and permeability, but do they
continue to be as effective at high hydrostatic pressures?
