New/old? ideas
I remember, some years ago, I saw some submarine designs using a series of torus
welded to eachother and then the external surface was either covered with
another layer (a metal sheet) or filled and smoothed as needed. The structural
torus were used in place of air cylinders to supply the air needed by the diesel
engine when running underwater.
Maybe the concept could be an interesting starting point for safe deeper ranged
minisubs.
