Re: Solar cells



	Actually, I have seen a pretty good use for solar in submersibles
that are being used in remote locales, i.e. where constant power is not
available and big charge-ups are done by generator. Solar -is- good for
maintaining batteries for indefinate lengths of time, particularly the old
fashioned lead-acids which are happiest stored all charged up. A steady
charger powered by solar can allow days between big charges if conditions
turn against you.
	This is a highly limited condition, however. If you're looking for
a way to charge up at the surface, a generator and a snorkle are miles
better.
