One way to make a simple periscope tower is to use a long tube that pivots at one end.  The pivot is
mounted on the bow or stern and is raised by cable and winch.  It's a system that was used on
simpler and earlier subs.  It avoids many optical hurdles

The alternative, of course, is to go to the plumbing supply store nearby and pick up a set of PVC or
ABS plastic pipes.  One pipe would fit closely into the next pipe which would fit into the next
pipe, etc.  A system of double o-rings would keep it all sealed in.

A motor would raise the periscope through your sub's fairwater.  But the typical periscope is a
complicated item for our usage.

If anyone out there has solved this difficulty let us know!  I, for one, would love a simple
periscope that rises through a fairwater.
