The Deep

Stan,

For what its worth Nitrox is for shallow diving not deep diving. This is due
to problems with Oxygen Poisoning. Its primary purpose is to reduce the
Nitrogen partial pressure to allow longer dives at the shallow depths. Deep
diving mixtures reduce the partial pressure of O2 while Nitrox increases the
PO2 which is almost opposite what you want for the deeper depths. As you said
mixed gas, trimix, is a better approach. I almost didn't put any mention of
depth because of starting a discussion about diving depths since this is an
area of debate among divers and when human variability and stupidity is
considered it's almost impossible to come up with a "maximum depth" such as
the 130 foot number often quoted. I do have a background in Diving but I don't
think it is relevant on this site.

The 480 foot depth limitation is due to the Floatation I use and does not
imply my diving depths. My intention is to cruise some reefs in my area at 170
feet at the deepest and for only a short time. Most of the dives will be at
100 feet. Any way most of the above is theoretical since after I finished my
Wet Sub I have been called out of town so I have not been able to do Sea
Trials. Frustrating.

Also after solving so many problems I wanted to take a break before the first
launching and the new set of problems which will have to be solved. It was
mostly fun making the Sub but I expect most of the Fun will be in using the
vehicle.

I do have pictures but have not posted them yet.

Have fun and thanks for the response.
