RE: Commercially available sub plans?
Greg,
I posted a reply to the group concerning your message. Thanks.
Interesting. When I traded message with Ray at the company he said they
were moving away from kits -- and no longer selling plans. Flat price on
ResortSub was 34K. I'm quite curious as the estimated $13.5K cost to
_finish_ the boat from a bare hull? Tanks, motors, batteries, regulators,
and gauges, and a dive computer might amount to $4-$5K depending on the
complexity of the system... I wonder how much the automatic bouyancy
controls sell for above and beyond the hull price -- and better yet, how
they work? The weight of the sub has me wondering too? 1800 + pounds dry!
Where does that come from? Is there additional lead above and beyonmd the
200 pounds in drop weight? Actually I was hoping to see plans because I'm
very curious about the design of the hull? In particular, whether, as I'm
guessing, the boat is divided into three distinct parts? From the various
pictures I just presume that the cockpit/cabin is one section, while the
bow and stern sections are seperate. I'd love to see pictures of the bare
hull, and shots of the bottom of the sub... I can't figure out that long
bow? I know there a ballast tank and equipment in there...but is it
actually part of the cabin, and above the waterline? It shouldn't be all
that hard to do a one off knockoff of the hull if I ever figure out exactly
how it's designed to function.
Thanks for youe message, Greg.
