Thanks for the numbers (partial pressures, etc.). I'll take them under
advisement and take short, shallow breaths. ;-)
Really, though - 4 minutes is plenty of time under for the little 'toy'
test rig I'm talking about. For one thing, most of my body will be wet and
Minnesota lakes can be pretty chilly even well into summer -- and I'd
expect they're even worse Down There.
But the snorkely compressor floating in an inner tube thing would be a
handy way to bypass buying expensive scuba stuff. If I used two fat hoses,
it could circulate right through and wouldn't even need compressing - I
could use a blower from a small car. I've actually been thinking of using a
"training wheels" approach like the AquaSub (now there's a brilliant
name...) -- big hinged wings with floats that stay on the surface. This
would mean I could use the same sort of blower system with two hoses too.
