Hi James,
Loctite 567 contains PTFE. The company also makes PTFE thread sealing
tape. You might contact their tech department and see what they have to
say. The term PTFE doesn't distinguish between the tape and
the product from a tube.
I'd be interested to hear what you discover.
Cheers,
Jim

Hi Jim,
I was all set to use thread seal (Loctite 567) as thats what it says in
the instructions and thats what i always thought was correct for taper
threads. Where the seal is made on the thread. But confusingly the
same instructions also say to seal the same type of joint with ptfe, hence my
question. I'll do a bit more googling and maybe come up with
something.
Regards
James

Hi, James,
I've been waiting to hear answers on your questions, too.
About all I know is that all sealing tape is not created equal; different
ones are formulated for specific applications and generally are
color-coded. Green for O2 connections, etc. HOWEVER, in the UK
the color coding may be on the reels instead of the tape itself, and the
coding may have different meaning than in the USA and other countries.
Use neither more nor less than specified.

Hi All,
I'm busy working on my high pressure pipe work.
Reading the parker installation guide for all the pipe work, its
pretty clear as to how to fit the A-Lok fittings i'm using. BUT, at
one point it says to seal BSPT Tapered threads using PTFE tape and then a
different guide (also by Parker) says to use Loctite 567 thread
sealant.
This is for tapered threads that are making the pressure seal thread
to thread. I was always under the impression that an anaerobic
synthetic resin (as in loctite 567) should be used and not ptfe?
(note that most of the joints for the system are BSPP or
tube unions, these BSPT ones are just to connect the hull stop valves to
the through hull pipe nipples)
Any suggesttions on PTFE or Loctite 567 for BSPT threads?
Many Thanks
