Re: [PSUBS-MAILIST] Dan Lance - OTS System

Hi,
Just seen this.

I have OTS kit i got through psubs.  Ive only tested it in the bath.  I have 1 x surface kit and 1x diver kit with surface conversion.  If anyone is thinking about this system, i would suggest getting 2x the diver units with the surface conversion kits rather than the surface kits or combination.  The reason is they are the same units.  If youve got diver kits, you can use them for diving as well as in your sub, plus they are waterproof and more ruggedly built.

The only advantage i can see for the surface kit is that you can use a hand mic rather than headphones.  Go for the diver kits with conversion.  Its the same but can be used for diving and is waterproof\rugged.

Pic shows surface kit test mounted.  (at the back)

Hi Jim,

The drawing is at www.psubs.org -> Resources & Reference -> Design Tools -> Communications -> VHF + OTS Schematic

PSUBS can get you a discount on new equipment although I don't know if it would match the scratch & dent pricing.  Log into your PSUBS account then click on the store link from your account and you'll find pricing under "Electronics".  We'll have to get in touch with the distributor for current pricing but contact me if you're interested in going this route and I'll get a quote for you.

Hi Dan,

If you're out there I could use help with the specific part/model
numbers of your OTS Communication System.

I realize that this is redundant, but could not find in my notes or the achives.

I did come across a drawing that Clif Redus made up some time ago, but
it shows a different radio (Raymarine).

Can either you or Clif clarify?

Best Regards,
